2020 PROGRESS

October - Roche Diagnostics Corporation joined EmployIndy, Ascend Indiana and Mayor Hogsett in accounting the Modern Apprenticeship Program (MAP) for Central Indiana High School Students.

  • Roche Diagnostics Corporation will host four diverse high school apprentices starting Sept 2021 in a two- to three-year apprenticeship in the field of business operations.

  • The apprentices will gain paid on-the-job training, college credit, a nationally recognized credential, as well as mentorship and robust network.

September - Launched a virtual recruiting program called Your Future @ Roche to expand our reach and connect with HBCU and HSI students for opportunities in our internship and early in career programs.

  • By reaching out to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic-Serving institutions, Multicultural Centers and Diversity Equity & Inclusion offices at other universities, we were able to increase the number of diverse candidates we screened and hired.

Summer - Roche and the African-American Business Resource Group (AABRG) partnered with the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis (MEPI) in an effort to provide education, exposure and experiential learning opportunities for underrepresented minority students within Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.).

  • Hired 3 diverse students into a 10 week summer high school intern program.

Summer - Roche Diagnostics Corporation leaders and our African American Business Resource Group hosted Unity Circles where employees engaged in meaningful conversations about racial equity in our country, communities and company.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation will collaborate with local and national organizations that are focused on improving the health and wellbeing of racial and ethnic minority populations.

2022 PROGRESS

Roche Diagnostics Corporation grew its partnership with the American Heart Association and its Check.Change.Control aimed at addressing high blood pressure as a health disparity among people of color in Indianapolis. Roche’s support helped expand access and education to five additional federally qualified health centers.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation continued its partnership with the American Cancer Society’s Return to Screening program to identify strategies to increase cancer screening among underresourced communities for breast, colon, cervical and lung cancers.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation joined with Gennesaret Free Clinic to help increase patient access and care within their medical clinics, including four stationary clinics and a mobile medical clinic that tours eight partner sites.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation collaborated with Indiana Black Expo to support the Indiana Department of Health Black & Minority Health Fair. Roche provided diabetes care education, a disease that disproportionately impacts people of color.

Roche Diabetes Care is tracking toward a goal of impacting ≥30,000 patients with diabetes affected by healthcare disparities. This year Roche Diabetes Care donated free diabetes management supplies to Gennesaret Free Clinics to support people experiencing homelessness or unable to access services in Indianapolis.

2021 PROGRESS

Roche Diagnostics Corporation joined a partnership with the American Cancer Society’s Return to Screening program to identify strategies to increase cancer screening among the underserved for breast, colon, cervical and lung cancers.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation expanded its partnership with the American Heart Association called Check.Change.Control aimed at addressing high blood pressure as a health disparity among people of color in Indianapolis.

Roche Diabetes Care will continue the national support of the American Diabetes Association’s Project Power, an innovative program to prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes in youth ages 5-12.

Roche Diabetes Care sponsored the first-ever Type One Nation Spanish Summit from JDRF and Beyond Type 1 Alliance.

Roche Diabetes Care is donating free diabetes management supplies and solutions to Gennesaret Free Clinics, an organization in Indianapolis for people who are homeless or unable to afford services.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation launched a social media campaign to bring awareness to US health disparities and the resources available to address access to diabetes care.

2020 PROGRESS

Roche Diagnostics Corporation formed a partnership with the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery patient support program to provide underserved cancer patients with transportation to treatment and other related appointments.

Fall - Roche Diagnostics Corporation launched a new partnership with the American Heart Association called Check.Change.Control aimed at addressing high blood pressure as a health disparity among people of color in Indianapolis.

October - Roche Diabetes Care is a local sponsor of the American Diabetes Association’s Project Power, a national, virtual after-school program that supports the ADA initiative to slow the trajectory of childhood obesity through fun activities, wellness education and family involvement for youth (ages 7 -13). The program aims to educate youth at risk for developing type 2 diabetes and their families.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation will engage with community organizations focused on advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in our communities.

2022 PROGRESS

Roche Diagnostics Corporation convened and facilitated its first-ever Indianapolis Health Equity Community Coalition, including 9 local organizations and healthcare providers focused on understanding and addressing health equity challenges in Central Indiana.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation continues to partner with the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis (MEPI), which includes paid internships for three MEPI students. In addition, Roche employees led Resume Writing and Mock Interview Workshops and a roundtable discussion with engineering and IT professionals.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation partnered with following community organizations to address inequities and social barriers to health:

  • Second Helpings to help provide 4,000 meals to support their hunger relief program in Central Indiana.

  • The Coalition for Homeless Intervention and Prevention of Greater Indianapolis’ (CHIP’s) Street Reach program. Street Reach Indy directly assists individuals living on the streets and in shelters of Indianapolis by providing flexible resources to help them overcome barriers to housing.

  • Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School to help expand the reach of the school’s STEM and robotics program to additional urban youth.

  • Center for Leadership Development (CLD) helped support the College Prep Program to expose students and parents throughout the state of Indiana to the idea of college as an available option and to the many opportunities that a college education affords, including STEM careers.

  • DREAM Alive to provide volunteers to assist DREAM Scholars with shopping for students in need and assist at their annual DREAM Christmas event at the Indianapolis Colts Practice Facility or Gainbridge Fieldhouse. DREAM Alive is a non-profit that helps break the cycle of poverty by helping youth discover career paths and mentoring them from 7th grade until high school graduation.

2021 PROGRESS

Roche Diagnostics Corporation partners with MEPI (Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis) which allows individuals from our Indianapolis campus to get involved with volunteer efforts as well as afforded the opportunity to 3 High School MEPI students to intern with Roche Diagnostics Corporation this past summer.

Roche Diagnostics Corporation donated to two local organizations:

  • Indianapolis Urban League to support funding of programs to address health, economic, and educational disparities in minority/urban communities.

  • CLD for the College Prep Conference to expose students and parents throughout the state of Indiana to the idea of college as an available option and to the many opportunities that a college education affords, including STEM careers.

2020 PROGRESS

July - Roche Diagnostics Corporation made a financial contribution to the Indianapolis Urban League to address disparities in healthcare and education.

Fall - We donated to Indianapolis Public Schools Foundation to help purchase PPE and thermometers. Additionally, we provided access to a COVID-19 symptom tracker and management software for IPS’s 3,500 staff members.

Fall - Roche Diagnostics Corporation will make a financial contribution to the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis (MEPI) for programming costs. The donation is part of a partnership that includes high school internships and mentoring.
