OUR PLEDGE TO THE COMMUNITY

WISH-TV pledges to continue addressing issues of racial equity and justice in our communities through our news and special programming platforms on-air and online.

PLEDGE 1

WISH-TV pledges to highlight and support community initiatives, leaders, and organizations that are creating and fostering positive changes in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Focus Areas: Health, Criminal Justice, Education, Prosperity

WISH-TV is committed to highlighting groups and organizations who continue to lead the way in diversity, equity, and inclusion by building strong relationships and continuing the conversation and education on social issues within our communities.

2022 PROGRESS

In 2022, WISH-TV hosted the annual Gr8 Pasta Push benefitting Second Helpings and the Gr8 Paper Push benefitting Teachers Treasures.

2021 PROGRESS

Assisted the Mozel Sanders Foundation with a Thanksgiving Fundraiser:

WISH/WNDY received the 2021 Indiana Broadcasters Association's Cardinal Award for community service with Mozel Sanders Foundation.

WISH-TV pledges to continue creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.

Focus Areas: Workplace

WISH-TV pledges to continue to recruit and retain a workforce in all levels within our organization that best reflects the diverse communities we serve. This commitment includes volunteer and intern candidates in all departments.

2022 PROGRESS

WISH-TV has served as the media partner for several community events, including the Indy Pride Parade, the Black and Minority Health Fair, the Indy Ultimate, La Plaza’s Fiesta festival, and more. We had volunteers from the company engage with the public and learn about each organization.

WISH-TV has attended various career fairs and events from the Indiana Broadcasters Association and will serve as the media partner for the Indy Pride Career Fair.

We have re-engaged our internship program which has attracted more interns than ever, including video promotions interns, news interns, lifestyle interns, sports interns, and more.

2021 PROGRESS

Multicultural reporter - now with a weekly podcast "Our City, Our Voice."

WISH-TV won 7 SPJ awards for excellence in journalism including coverage of social justice issues:

The addition of WISH-TV's LatinX digital content and reporting serving the Latino communities around Indianapolis:

Owner, DuJuan McCoy, Participated in the 20th annual Mayor's Celebration of Diversity Awards as the Keynote Speaker.

WISH-TV is committed to addressing health disparities and inequalities to improve the health of our communities.

Focus Areas: Health

WISH-TV will continue to partner with healthcare providers, medical experts, and public health professionals to bring more attention to the health conditions and diseases that disproportionately affect people of color. We will create more special features, content, and programming designed to increase awareness and education, and to help connect those in underserved communities with free or low-cost and life-saving services.
